The Autopsy Of Somaliland’s Tragedies from 1960 Until Present, In A Summarized Form!

The original sin was chasing Pan-Somalism’ solo, while forgetting to build her house first. First thing first.

The woes of somaliland stemmed from chasing a dream which was not  well thought-out.

That was, “one greater ethnic Somali’s in one big country” collecting them from three neighboring countries!

Somalia wasn’t wholeheartedly on board in what somaliland was chasing .They were busy,  occupying all major positions in the new government of 1960 and keeping them, which they did!

Somaliland which was marginalized in the government was solo in this sentiment of “greater Somali nation.” somaliland’s woes began from there. They were out!

How can they call others to join!!

What has Somaliland done to loose her Independence, one may wonder?!

Why Somaliland suffered genocide?

What has she done?

Why somaliland is not yet recognized? All these goes back to the original sin!

Somaliland survived the ethnic cleansing. Somaliland triumphed, and rebuilt her country. Somaliland rightfully withdrew a union which never was! Because that union wasn’t ratified in the first place!

In 1962, somaliland popularly rejected the ill-fated union by over 69% however, it was never acted upon, delibrately so!

Somaliland recalled her lost independence and established a democratic government.

WHY Somaliland is still Denied her just, meritorious and over due Recognition?!

International relations and government’s don’t care ‘just causes’, they don’t care what is right, they simply follow their national interest alone; that said, we will achieve our recognition sooner or later. It is a matter of time.

The one answer to these sufferings Somaliland experienced and endured was one thing and only one thing, and that was what Somaliland was chasing , PAN-SOMALISM,

It was a noble cause and an honest intention from Somaliland side, while somalia wasn’t enthusiastic about the whole idea. The dream didn’t materialize for obvious reasons

Somalia shunted Somaliland, put them in the garbage bin, and formed their own government. That was the first bellow on the head of Pan-Somalism’, and more came later (Re: somalia is in a vicious circle by Ibrahim Mead)

The noble cause of Pan- Somalism was destroyed by Somalia, right in 1960 when they formed their own government. That means if Somaliland didn’t run after that unthought and impractical dream, Somaliland would have never suffered all the sufferings she experienced and still experiencing.

Ironically somalia and Djibouti shamelessly, dishonestly talk about PAN-SOMALISM now!

Djibouti tell us “unite your brothers in somalia when they even changed the name  “Somali coast!”

If the colonial France changed, in which we know they were part of that, they would have reinstated the name after independence. That is the Height of hypocrisy

Somaliland did not know much or nothing of the following:

1-The world order passed after world war two in San Fransisco which prohibited changes of the existed international borders among nation’s at the time.2- That Somalia wasn’t interested the idea of ban-somalism 3- Somaliland’s lack of knowledge of who they are, the Somalia people!

Had they knew them as we know them now somaliland would have been saved and had kept her government!

Somaliland leadership were sleepwalking, they were driven by emotions and ignorance of the facts on the ground in Somalia side and the international side too.

We paid blood and treasure to at last win back and reclaim our lost independence for that mistake they did in 1960. However,We are not out of woods yet.We are not yet recognized, but recognition is with in reach. It is simply a matter of time. Hold the line.

Somalia claims they own us, after all they did to somaliland. Their shameful claim is not true though. What is true is that they are owned or administered by what is called international community under chapter7 of the UnitedNations. They aren’t free.We are free in all practical terms. That is the sad end of the long and difficult rounds of the dream of Pan-Somalis.
